Call for Participants
Are you a multiracial musician?
Curious what I mean by "multiracial"?
I seek participants with multiracial ancestry and/or parentage. The participant may claim a single racial identity (monoracial), multiple racial identities (multiracial), or a monoracial identity with multiple ethnicities (multiethnic). For example, the following musicians would all be eligible to participate in this study:
I seek participants with multiracial ancestry and/or parentage. The participant may claim a single racial identity (monoracial), multiple racial identities (multiracial), or a monoracial identity with multiple ethnicities (multiethnic). For example, the following musicians would all be eligible to participate in this study:
- A deejee who identifies as Afro-Latino due to their Taíno, African, and European ancestry.
- A vocalist with one White parent and one Japanese American parent who identifies as Asian American.
- A producer with two Black parents, who knows their lineage includes both African and European ancestry.

I am recruiting multiracial artists working in country, hip-hop and reggaetón and other contemporary commercial music (CCM) genres to participate in a study on the trends and developments in American music which are often ignored, erased, & misunderstood.

WHO AM I RECRUITING?
- Multiracial Artists, 18 years or older, with 3+ years of experience working in the contemporary commercial music industry
- Interview: 1.5 to 2-hour conversation
- Samples of music & publicity materials
- Participation is voluntary and consent may be withdrawn at any time.
- No payment for participation.
- Ilah Raleigh is an Education Leadership doctoral candidate at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.
- This study is conducted with the approval and oversight of the University of St. Thomas Institutional Review Board (https://www.stthomas.edu/irb/).
