Dr. Ilah Raleigh is a transformational leader in the creative sector, serving as the Executive Director of Springboard for the Arts. Throughout her career, she has combined strategic vision with fiscal sustainability to drive institutional growth and deepen community impact.

Prior to leading Springboard for the Arts, Dr. Raleigh served as the Director of Visual and Performing Arts at The Blake School (2022–2026), where she directed complex operations and institutional strategy. Her leadership background includes leadership roles at the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, faculty appointments at the University of St. Thomas, and extensive service on regional arts and education boards.

As a self-managed artist, scholar, and creative entrepreneur, Dr. Raleigh brings firsthand understanding of the independent arts economy. Her experience navigating the practicalities of small business ownership directly shapes her approach to organizational stewardship, advocating for equitable, sustainable career models for all creators.

Dr. Raleigh holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Learning from the University of St. Thomas and is a dedicated advocate for institutional equity and systemic change in the arts.

Hailed by the Star Tribune for singing with “dignity, beauty, and power,” African American mezzo-soprano Dr. Ilah Raleigh is a culture bearer dedicated to telling new stories through song. Her career spans the Minnesota Opera and Washington National Opera. Trained in Milan, Italy, under Giulietta Simionato, she strategically expands the vocal canon through cultural representation—notably through contemporary premieres and curated recitals of African American art song. She remains a sophisticated lyric artist committed to blending vocal excellence with the preservation of cultural truths.

Her forthcoming book with Bloomsbury Publishing, From Ivy Queen to Bad Bunny: The Sonic Travels of Reggaetón (Spring 2027), explores the genre's lineage as a tool for cultural empowerment.

Combining her Doctor of Education with research into Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, she designs innovative curricula and delivers keynotes that examine the arts as a vital tool for social justice and community leadership.

Dr. Raleigh’s chapter, "My American Story: A Storytelling and Songwriting Project for Social Change," introduces a general music curriculum by Dr. Raleigh that explores the final projects of college students telling their American story in song.

I still can’t quite believe it, but I did it! I finished my manuscript and officially submitted it to my editor! 🥂🎉 That final checkmark on Chapter 12 meant so much more than just “finished.” It represents three years of travel, from watching Ivy Queen make her debut at Carnegie Hall to a life-changing family trip to see Bad Bunny in concert in Italy.
